Nothing but Vettes!
What an amazing Independence Day Parade for Sioux Falls and I couldn’t be
more proud of this club for coming out in full force to support the America’s 250th celebration! A HUGE thank you to all of the members that offered to represent the club in the parade, 23 beautiful Corvettes and a special SSR, of which 11 were offered for dignitaries. This parade and celebration really showcased America’s Sport car and from the vantage point of Phillips and 13th, looking down Phillips,
it was nothing but Vettes – such a beautiful sight to behold. Following the parade many of those in the parade, and a few members that were in town but not in the parade, were treated to a BBQ at the Hardy home where roughly 35 continued the celebration. Barb and I thank all of you that brought items to share, it was such a nice social.
The parade was the start of a very active month for the club. Hot Summer Nites and the 55th annual Black Hills Corvette Classic kicks off on Wednesday, July 15 and you will not want to miss it. Pre-registration packets can be picked up starting at 9:00 AM at Jerry’s Chevrolet and Corvette Center on the 15th. Ambush Apparel will be on site with the merchandise trailer offering BHCC and HSN merch. Then beginning at 6:00 PM Hot Summer Nites kicks off with the region’s largest Corvette show. Corvette only parking in the Lumber Exchange Ramp begins at 6:00 PM with access to the ramp ONLY ACCESSIBLE via 10th St. on to Reid Street. The festivities spill out into the 8th & RR parking lot including music by The Last Call Band, 7 food trucks, Remedy Brewing serving up libations, and the Sioux Council of Scouting America handling the soda and water. The merchandise trailer will also be at Hot Summer Nites, and out at the Holiday Inn in Spearfish for the Classic. It looks like it could be warm out so stay hydrated!
Our final event of July will be a Drive & Dine along the Sioux River on Wednesday, July 29, followed by dinner at The Alibi. More details will be provided as we get closer to the event. By the end of this month the club will have held nearly 30 events so far this year! It has been a busy year and we have much more to come so keep an eye on the Events Calendar on the website for all things SFCC.
Over the past several years the club has been nudged by a few members to get on Instagram to appeal to a younger audience.
With the persistence of HSN co-director Cheri Beyer, we couldn’t take the pressure any more and stood up an Instagram page. Thank you Ryan Berg for the technical support and getting it over the finish line! We all know that bringing in new members, and younger members, is the key to long term viability for any organization, ours included. We’ve had an active website for many years and our Facebook site continues to earn a strong following with over 1,300 followers. With our newest addition of Instagram where we can share the fun of the Corvette and our club to an even broader audience, we are better positioning the club to serve its members and prospects well into the future.
Lastly, please check out the list of events shown below for the balance of the year. We will continue to update our Events Calendar on the website, so keep a close eye on that as well. I hope to see many of you at Jerry’s for the BHCC registration kick-off, Hot Summer Nites in downtown Sioux Falls, and out at the 55th annual Black Hills Corvette Classic!
