Start Your Engines!

Ladies and gentlemen, START YOUR ENGINES!  Spring has sprung and it is time to take to the open road and let those Corvettes shine again.  The Sioux Falls Corvette Club is first and foremost a regional social club bringing together enthusiasts of America’s Sport Car to share our passion for the car, and to forge new lifelong friendships.  And how do we do that?  By getting these great cars together as often as we can through a host of events.  2026 will be the busiest schedule of Drive & Dine opportunities ever coordinated (see schedule at end of this message), coupled with our annual Spring Rally (May 3), general membership meetings (generally last Wednesday of the month), annual picnic, fall lamb roast, annual banquet and awards, and of course, the iconic Black Hills Corvette Classic!

Although I was not personally able to attend our first membership meeting of the year on

March 25, I understand it was a great turnout filled with information about the upcoming driving season.  Additionally, for those that were able to travel to Mitchell to see the garages and collections of Ken Setness, and Don and Barb Young, it was an amazing experience.  Thank you to Ken, Don & Barb for opening their collections for our club to enjoy.

Our membership meetings are intended to be a primary source of information for our club members and we encourage everyone to join us for apps, socializing and information.  Don’t forget to wear your nametag as we have many new club members we need to meet and share the fun of the club with.  Here is a short list of upcoming events through May.

Sunday, April 18: Pancake feed with the American Legion / Hard Rock Cafe – Sioux City

Wednesday, April 22: Take 16 Brewing, Luverne, MN

Wednesday, April 29: General Membership Meeting – The Social, Sioux Falls

Sunday, May 3: Spring Rally with meal and prizes starting at Jerry’s Chevrolet, Beresford

Friday, May 15: Golden Pheasant Steakhouse, Remsen, IA

Wednesday, May 27: General Membership Meeting

Saturday, May 30: Yesterday’s Memories (Vanderhagg Truck Museum), Sanborn, IA

Many of our driving destinations will have an organized caravan to drive out together, which is always a fun way to travel the backroads.  Be sure and check our Events Calendar on our website for the latest updates on all events.  www.siouxfallscorvetteclub.com.  Another great way to stay informed is through following us on Facebook where the club has nearly 1,200 followers and growing.  In addition to the monthly Prez Sez, monthly membership meetings, our website, and Facebook, we provide email blasts directly to your in-basket with updates and information of interest.

The big news in the Corvette world this past

month was the reveal of the 2027 Grand Sport.

As a teaser, here are a few specs on the 2027 Grand Sport:

Two models are expected:

 Grand Sport

Grand Sport X (GSX) (likely replacing the E-Ray)

Powertrain details (based on current confirmed + highly credible info):

Grand Sport:

~535 HP from a new-generation 6.7L V8 (LS6)

Grand Sport X:

721 combined HP

V8 (~535 HP) + front electric motor (~186 HP)

Positioning:

Widebody design (Z06-style)

Last, but not least, many of you heard at the meeting that our NCCC/Insurance Board representative Larry Mortensen has stepped down from the position for personal reasons.  Larry had been a wonderful Board member, and represented our club well with NCCC handling our membership and insurance needs.  This has left an opening on our Board and I would ask that if any of you have interest in joining the Board and have interest in this position, to please reach out to any of our Board members or myself to explore the opportunity.  We’d like to fill this seat as soon as possible as we have a summer full of activities.

It is going to be a great year and we will see you soon!

Save the wave!
