May 29, 2025 Another Spring Rally is in the books and what a great time! We drove several roads that we hadn’t been on before and ended up at the Green Rail in Hills, MN, where they had a meal all set up for us so no waiting to eat. Prizes were handed out and although there were a few panic envelopes opened, everyone left with a smile! Thanks to Dave & Jane Mutschelknaus and Paul & Lori Dyke for a fun event.
We had our May Membership meeting at The Social which was well attended and lots of fun. A few highlights:
It was announced that our beloved President, Denny Robinson, has decided to resign to spend more time getting healthy. Denny went in for a couple medical procedures and had some complications so he giving 100% to getting his health back. He didn’t want to be President of the Club if he couldn’t give 100% to it and just can’t do that right now. He and Elaine are still club members and Elaine is still treasurer so they will be involved.
To replace Denny, the board voted, John Pesicka, to fulfill the rest of the year. Along with VP, Mike Hardy, and Past President, Mike Skiles, we’ll work to keep the club running.
We also have an event change - our normally scheduled June Board of Directors meeting has been changed to a Drive & Dine to Mitchell to see Denny & Elaine. See all the scheduled events below.
A sign was auctioned off at the meeting, donated by Deb & Greg Johnson, that said “Never Underestimate a Grandma with a Corvette”. After a heated auction that raised $260 for our charity, the American Legion, Art Nordstrom went home with the sign. I’m guessing Marie was his inspiration?
The Sargent at Arms position is open now, with John accepting the President’s role, so if you’re interested please contact John Pesicka.
ALERT: Looking for volunteers for the Black Hills Corvette Classic. Need help parking at Jerry’s and Hot Summer Nights, and also with Merchandise at Jerry’s, Hot Summer Nights, and in Spearfish. Contact Barry Konken or Jen Johnke or Cheri Beyer if you can help.
Barry has been out there promoting the Black Hills Corvette Classic with an article already published on Corvette Blogger:
and a podcast with Corvette Today coming soon.
Some of you may remember a few years ago when we had the earliest known 1953 Corvette, production #003, on display at the BHCC. That was actually the body from #003 and the frame for #003 can be seen at the National Corvette Museum as part of a display showing a cutaway of a Corvette.
Well those may no longer be the earliest in existence. Production #001 is believed to have been located and identified. Here’s an article on that:
Save the wave! 👋🏼
