Just as the swallows return to Capistrano every spring, so do the Corvettes return to our streets, and boy are we ever glad for that! The winter gets long and the cars and owners get anxious. That long awaited glorious first cruise of the spring has arrived and it is officially GO TIME!

Your Board of Directors has been working hard to bring a great 2025 season of events to our members. At the end of this message, you will find a detailed list of all of the currently scheduled events for the season. You may want to print this out and tape it on your refrigerator, it is that good and chucked full of events you will not want to miss!
We had a great turnout at our second general membership meeting of the year on Wednesday, April 23 at The Social. Judging by how long everyone lingered around after the meeting to visit with friends, old and new, the meeting went well, albeit a tad long due to the amount of events and content we wanted to share at the beginning of the season. Some of the highlights of the meeting included spring highway cleanup, Drive & Dines, Spring Rally, The Black Hills Corvette Classic/Hot Summer Nights/Car Show, on-line merchandise store/jacket orders/BHCC commemorative tees, demonstration of the website and on-line store, BuzzBook update and photos, and membership.
We’ve always said that people join our club for the car but stay for the people, and that was on full display at the meeting. Past Prez Mike Skiles shared a couple stories about members sharing longtime friendships they’ve made in the club and at club events, including friends from across the country at the BHCC. So please enjoy your car with all of the other enthusiasts, but also extend a greeting out to someone you may not know that is new to the club and/or volunteer for one of the many needs the club has to keep it successful, I’m pretty sure you’ll make a new friend.
A couple upcoming events to keep in mind. Our first Drive & Dine is this coming Tuesday, April 29 to Take 16 Brewery in Luverne. We’ll meet on Main Street in Valley Springs and caravan to Luverne departing promptly at 5:30 PM. On Sunday, May 4, we will hold our annual Spring Rally. We will gather at Jerry’s Chevrolet & Corvette Center at noon, drivers meeting at 12:40 and first car out at 1:00 PM. The club will provide a meal to all of the rally participants (members only) at the mystery destination along with prizes for closest time and distance to the destination.
Don’t forget that the on-line merchandise store is now open and will remain open until Sunday, May 8. This is the only time this year the store will be open so now is the time to take advantage of all of the new SFCC swag available to you. It’s never too early to get a little Christmas shopping done or simply gear up to represent our Club at the BHCC in your snazzy new SFCC merchandise. Here is the address to the on-line store: https://mrghauff.chipply.com/SFCC.
Lastly, a big thank you to our Board and volunteers who put in considerable time to make this a great club for our members to enjoy. Most importantly, thanks for being such great club members, it is your support, and that of our sponsors, that keep the wheels turning!
Save the wave!
Mike Hardy, VP – Membership Director (on behalf of Prez Denny)
