BLACK HILLS FALL COLOR RUN
Relaxing, laid back, scenic, great roads, and Thank You were the words heard most often from those who attended the Black Hills Fall Color Run. Approximately 100 cars from about 10 states joined other Corvette owners for the September 17-20 Fall Color Run.
Thank you, Jerry’s Chevrolet and Corvette for sponsoring a really nice Welcome Event enjoyed by all before departing for a great weekend of driving America's Sprots Car.
Approximately 75 Corvettes joined the caravan lead by Steve & Marilyn Stone from Madison WI in their 63 original owner, 587,000 mile convertible. On this very cool morning they choose to wear stocking caps and gloves so I asked why they had the top down. The answer was the obvious, “because it’s a convertible”.
At the drivers meeting, to add a little fun to the 400 mile trip across the state, everyone was told our goal was to make the 63 the most photographed Corvette on the trip so passing was encouraged by offering a Black Hills Fall Color Run commemorative token if they showed us a photo of the 63 at the Welcome Social on Friday evening. At the social the six suggested self-guided tours were briefly reviewed, printed turn by turn directions were handed out, impromptu small groups were formed and many claimed their commemorative tokens. The Holiday Inn did an outstanding job decorating the room, provided ample social distancing where everyone could relax and enjoy a drink, a meal and socializing.
Saturday and Sunday everyone toured to take in the fall colors and all the Black Hills has to offer. Based on comments from attendees we should consider doing this type of event yearly. Most SFCC members had a great time ( you’ll have to ask Greg & Rita to explain why I use the term “most SFCC members”) . Share your thoughts on this type of future events with Barry, Mike or any of the Board members.
