Prez Sez - Making Plans 2024

January 23, 2024

I hope everyone is enjoying the recent balmy weather of late. It makes one think a lot about spring, summer and fall!

Thanks to everyone that attended the Pancake Breakfast at the American Legion on January 7th. Everyone had a great time and we were able to support the American Legion and its mission.

The next event will be on Sunday, February 11th at the Sports Center in Larchwood, Iowa. We’re having an old-fashioned Super Bowl party with a chili cook-off and desserts. SFCC will provide the bowls, plates, silverware, napkins and soup crackers. Just bring your best chili and/or dessert and there will be a prize for the best chili. The Sports Center has a bar which will be open. We’re looking forward to a fun time and hope you can make it! The party will start at 4:00 p.m. with the Super Bowl kick-off at 5:30 p.m. Hope to see you there!

As many of you may have heard, one of SFCC’s long-time members, Ron Kersbergen, had a medical emergency at the SFCC board meeting at Look’s Market on January 17th. SFCC Secretary Jeff Gifford, a military veteran and trained medic jumped into action and started CPR on Ron within one minute. Between Jeff and nurses who were in the facility, Ron pulled through and is doing much better. I spoke with Ron and Cindy again today (Monday, January 22nd) and he is having a pacemaker/defibrillator implanted today. He will be doing some occupational therapy and hopes to go home at the end of this week.  Please keep Ron and Cindy in your prayers.

Just a reminder that 2024 dues are payable on or before March 1st ~ otherwise members who have not sent their dues in will go on the inactive list in the database and won’t receive any email blasts.

Join for the car, stay for the people!!!
