If you haven’t heard yet, our Vice President, Jeff Watkins resigned his position due to his and Christina’s jobs being transferred to Des Moines. We wish Jeff and Christina all the best and know that they plan to come back as much as they can. Because of Jeff’s resignation the Board voted unanimously to elect Hailey Johnke to fill Jeff’s position on the Board. Many of you know Hailey and her parents, Del and Jen Johnke. Hailey grew up in the SFCC and worked side by side with Jen in the merchandise sales. Hailey is a freshman at SDSU and is very excited about her new position, and we are happy to have her.
Our Secretary, Jeff Gifford, has been selected to receive the American Legion Post 15 Lifesaving Award on Friday, March 15th, which is also the 105th anniversary of the American Legion Post 15 in Sioux Falls. As most of you have heard, Jeff was key in saving the life of SFCC member Ron Kersbergen on Wednesday, January 17th. The doctors told Ron & Cindy that if it weren’t for Jeff’s quick and immediate action starting CPR Ron may not have survived. There will be a meal (choice of salmon or pork chop) at a cost of $25/person. Please RSVP to me no later than Tuesday, March 5th at robinson@mit.midco.net and I will pass the information on to the Legion. We hope to see many of you there!
The first general membership meeting in 2024 will be held Wednesday, March 27th at the Five Oaks Event Center (formerly C.J. Calloway’s), starting at 6:30. They are on the west side of the building of Look’s Market on 69th St. There is plenty of parking on the west side of the building for Corvettes. There will be a cash bar available and the club will provide heavy hors d’oeuvres from Tony’s Catering in Brandon. We think you’re going to like Five Oaks! They are happy to have us and it’s a very nice facility. Plan to attend the meeting and check it out!
