Prez Sez - Happy New Year!

December 27, 2023

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and hope that your New Year brings you health and happiness.

First, I want to thank Dave Rowe for his leadership in 2023. He did a great job of keeping all of us informed about upcoming activities and leading the SFCC. I also want to thank the 2023 Board of Directors for their time and dedication to the SFCC. One thing I learned in my short time as a member is there’s a lot of time and hard work that goes into planning and executing all the SFCC activities.

Also, a big shout-out to Mike Skiles for coordinating the 2023 Drive & Dines, he did a great job!

I also want to thank all those who have agreed to serve on the SFCC Board of Directors in 2024. I know we have a great team and we will have a great year!

Last but not least, I want to thank all SFCC members for your attendance, participation and assistance when asked. You have made the SFCC one of the best Corvette clubs around!

As you may be aware, the Board made the decision to change the location of the general membership meetings in 2024. The Board is hopeful we will start meeting at the 5 Oaks Event Center (formerly known as C.J. Calloway’s) and we are working on finalizing the details. Many thanks to Mike & Colleen Skiles and Glen and Mick Hoffer for all their time and work to find a new “home” for the SFCC meetings.

We will have one more general membership meeting in 2024 and two social events over this winter. We have not held any type of meetings/events in January or February for several years and I thought it would be a good idea to do something to get out of the house. I hope to see you at both events! Also, the dates and events for 2024 will be posted on the SFCC website in the near future.

The first social event of 2024 will be held on Sunday, January 7th at 11:00 a.m. at The Alliance in Sioux Falls to enjoy an American Legion Post 15 sponsored pancake feed. And the SFCC will be footing the cost. Not only will you get great pancakes, it allows us to support our 2024 charity. Sue from the Legion is setting aside seating for us so we can all be together to eat and socialize. We plan to have a 50/50 drawing to further benefit American Legion Post 15 that day.

The second event will be held on Super Bowl Sunday, February 11th from 4:00 p.m. to around 8:30 p.m. at the Larchwood, Iowa Community Center. This is a short distance from Sioux Falls and the same town that we had a couple of Drive & Dines to the bakery. There is plenty of space and seating along with a big screen TV. We think it would be fund to have everyone bring their best chili and/or a dessert. The Community Center has a bar where you can purchase beverages. The club will provide bowls, plates, silverware and napkins. A reminder of this event will be sent.

It would be a good time, at either event, to pay your 2024 dues if you have not already done so. I look forward to serving as the SFCC president in 2024. My goal is that at the end of 2024 everyone can say they made some new friends, had a good time and supported our charity.

Save the Wave!
