Special License Plate Update

UNITED CAR COUNCIL OF SOUTH DAKOTA

ACTION REQUESTED: If you want improve the law allowing you to drive your street rod, collector car or sports car legally without a front license plate it’s time to contact your legislators and ask them to support HB 1116 starting today and please get it done before mid-February. Legislators are influenced by the people they represent, so please do all you can to get the word out to other car people.

Please forward this message to your car club and your car friends and encourage them to contact their legislators in both Houses. Because of your efforts two years ago, we were able to get the current law passed, but based on your responses it needs two major revisions, which HB 1116 will fix. We’ve done a ton of work putting together a Bill that is agreeable to both sides, so now it’s time for you to reassure your legislators that you support the revisions.

Here’s what we’re trying to fix. HB 1116 will revise the current law (Special Interest Plates) to increase the mileage limitation to 7500 miles per year and make Personalized Plates an option for Special Interest Plates. Bottom line, you’ll be able to drive more miles and customize your plate with a personal message if we can get this Bill passed. Minor changes, but major to most who enjoy the car hobby.

Contact your legislators by calling, e-mailing, one on one meeting or the town hall type meetings. You can call and leave a message at 773-3821 (Senators) and 773-3851 (Representatives) or e-mail them. (First name. Last name@sdlegislature.gov ) example: John.Doe@sdlegislature.gov

You have a voice and legislators want to hear from you.

THANKS IN ADVANCE AND WITH YOUR HELP WE CAN GET THE REVISIONS YOU HAVE TOLD ME YOU NEED TO ENJOY YOUR CAR MORE.
