FALL COLOR RUN OCTOBER 13

JERRY’S CHEVROLET, BERESFORD

Don’t put the Corvette in storage yet! Join the SFCC for a Fall Color Run on October 13, starting with a snacks & beverages at Jerry’s Chevrolet in Beresford, followed by a scenic drive along the Sioux & Missouri Rivers, a Garage Tour, and dinner in Hartington, NE. As always guests are welcome, so invite prospective members, friends, or former members.

Here’s the plan. (Times are approximate except for the departure from Jerry’s)

11:30-1:00 Meet and socialize with snacks and a beverage at Jerry’s Chevrolet in Beresford

1:00-2:00 Cruise along the Sioux River & Loess Hills Scenic Byway

2:00-3:00 Take a break at Bunyan’s in Vermillion. Have a beverage or a burger.

3:00-4:00 Cross the Missouri River and cruise the Outlaw Highway to Hartington, NE

4:00-5:00 Garage Tour at Gerald & Delores Konken’s. Their garage is decorated with Corvette memorabilia, Corvette models, and model farm machinery.

5:00-6:00 Buffet dinner at the Hartington Hotel. Built in 1917, the Hartington Hotel is a true historical landmark, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. $15.50 for a complete buffet including 2-3 meats and all the sides.

For those who don’t know Barry’s dad, Gerald Konken, I’ll give you a little background. Gerald has been a lifetime Corvette enthusiast and promoter. He bought his first new Corvette at age 20 – a 1963 Red Split Window Coupe. During that summer he could be found racing at many of the area drag strips. He started business in 1965 selling Massey Ferguson farm equipment, and later transitioned to selling Corvettes from the same dealership in Hartington. He specialized in the 90’s version of the ZR-1 and at one time was one of the largest ZR1 dealers in the world. Gerald and Delores have been great promoters for the BHCC and were vendors there for 20+ years.

Gerald has been dealing with some medical issues recently, so let’s use our Fall Color Run as an opportunity to say THANK YOU for his contributions to the wellbeing of our hobby.
